Job Overview:

We seek a parole officer to fill an immediate full-time position. An inmate’s transition from prison back into regular society is often challenging. Our parole officers play an integral role in the rehabilitation process, offering advice regarding job searches and living a drug-free life. To be effective in this position, you must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to successfully juggle a heavy caseload. Time management is of the utmost importance, as your days will be divided between administrative duties and traveling to meet with your parolees. If you are passionate about helping others and enjoy working in an environment where no two days are alike, we want to meet you and discuss this position further.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with newly assigned parolees, prior to their release, to determine a plan of action
  • Supervise recently released parolees’ integration back into society
  • Offer advice and counseling, ensuring parolees remain on track and out of trouble
  • Assist each parolee in their job hunt
  • Communicate regularly with parolees and their family members and employers, ensuring everyone understands the rules and what is expected from them by when
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records regarding parolees’ progress
  • Analyze collected data to monitor parolees’ progress, making recommendations when necessary
  • Meet with individuals who frequently come in contact with parolees to determine each parolee’s progress; identify and address any issues
  • Use your findings to make recommendations to the court regarding each parolee’s release from parole

Necessary Skills & Qualifications:

  • Completion of the basic recruit training course and a passing grade on the state officer certification examination
  • Up-to-date on additional training hours and continuing education
  • Current firearm certification
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to speak firmly and directly when necessary
  • Patient, encouraging, and understanding demeanor
  • Well-versed in federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Ability to work independently while juggling a very heavy caseload
  • Ability to administer drug tests
  • Detail-oriented and adept at maintaining accurate case files

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology a plus
  • Must be at least 19 years old
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
