Ease of Use

GoDaddy is an excellent choice for beginners looking to make a website without spending too much time, money, or effort. The platform uses simple drag-and-drop functionality, enabling you to easily add and remove elements and content with the click of a button — no coding or prior experience in web design required.

While the platform does offer enough features for some customization, one possible downside of its simplicity is that some users may find its features a bit limited. That being said, if you’re looking to create a website in under an hour, this is definitely achievable with GoDaddy.

Pricing

GoDaddy includes four pricing tiers — Basic, Standard, Premium, and Ecommerce. Plus, all new users are given the opportunity to try the platform for free before committing to a plan. 

The Basic plan is a highly affordable option, but many small business owners may choose to opt for the Ecommerce plan — particularly if your business includes retail.

GoDaddy includes an ecommerce plan. With this plan, you will have access to a few basic features that should easily meet the needs of smaller businesses. However, they may not be up to par for companies looking for a platform that can scale with their business models. 

Some of GoDaddy’s ecommerce services include the ability to add and import products, integrations with third-party payment gateways like PayPal, social media marketplace integrations, and the ability to add coupons and discounts.

Templates and Themes

With simplicity in mind, GoDaddy saves you time browsing its 1,500 template industry categories by asking a few questions about your business and automatically selecting and populating a template based on your responses. If you wish to change this automatic selection, you may still manually select another template before you finalize your choice.

If you’re looking to go a bit more in-depth, you can change the theme of your website. Each template includes around 20 themes which allow you to choose between different layouts for your website’s content. This can help fully customize your template so it is consistent with your brand image.

Apps and Plugins

While GoDaddy does not offer any apps or plugins, it does have a few useful integrations that you can add to your website in their place. 

These include the ability to embed videos and livestreams from YouTube and Twitch, as well as playlists via SoundCloud. You can also take reservations through OpenTable, and if you need a real estate listing integration GoDaddy offers one via the multiple listings service (MLS).

You can also add online restaurant ordering with ChowNow, as well as embed Google My Business and Facebook Business reviews.

Heroic

Ease of Use

Heroic is a very straightforward, feature-light platform. This makes it very easy to use, although it does not have the same type of drag-and-drop editing that most website builders use. That being said, one of the first things that stood out when we tested the software was how simple and easy it was to use. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of customization.

This platform promises users the ability to create a website in just minutes — provided your needs are fairly straightforward, this is certainly achievable. That being said, the editor does lag occasionally, which detracts slightly from its ease of use.

Pricing

Heroic offers three plans: Starter, Growth, and Scale. 

One thing that stands out when examining the site’s pricing strategy is that — aside from the number of websites you can create and the price point — there is no real difference between each plan. Meaning, essentially all of the site’s features are included in the Starter plan.

Ecommerce

The only real ecommerce feature available through Heroic is the option of integrating with Stripe, a third-party payment processor. You can also create product pages and add payment buttons once you’ve integrated with Stripe. 

Other than this, there are no other ecommerce features and the platform does not have an ecommerce plan. The platform has specifically stated that it was designed for life coaches and other service-based professionals, so retailers should keep this in mind.

Templates and Themes

Heroic offers a decent range of templates to choose from. None of these stand out from the crowd in terms of design and layout, but all the ones we tested performed fairly well and helped to create an attractive final product. 

These templates are designed for users looking to make a straightforward website. The limited editor inhibits your ability to customize them, so if your end goal is for your website to be ultra-consistent with your brand personality, this platform may feel restrictive.

Users should also keep in mind that they cannot change their template once they have created their website — be sure to choose wisely when setting up your website.

Apps and Plugins

Currently, Heroic also does not feature any apps or plugins. That being said, there are a few integrations available through this platform. 

These include social media icons, allowing visitors to follow you with the click of a button. There are also integrations with email platforms such as Mailchimp, helping you run email campaigns or offer newsletters. You may also integrate your website with Stripe to easily process payments.
