Our Pick: Wix
Although both platforms have a lot in common, we chose Wix as the better website builder for small businesses. Wix is a far more expandable tool than Webnode. The Webnode website builder offers some decent features at an affordable price point but fails to strike a balance between cost, ease of use, and range of features the way that Wix does. To learn more about each platform, read our Wix Website Builder Review article.
Wix vs. Webnode: Ease of Use
Small business owners tend to be busy folk, so it’s important to find a platform that is easy to use so you don’t have to spend hours learning a new program— or getting frustrated and giving up on one that doesn’t offer you an intuitive, functional website editor.
Ease of Use: Wix
There is no denying that the Wix website builder is easy to use. Its simple, drag-and-drop functionality allows you to easily add and remove elements keeping your website consistent with your brand personality. Its editor is feature-rich, but also highly visual, responsive, and intuitive. Beginners will find it very easy to jump right into this program without having to spend much time learning their way around.
Although a tutorial is scarcely needed because of how simple the Wix website builder is, you may still benefit from perusing our How to Make a Wix Website and How to Use Wix articles— our step-by-step guides on all of the platform’s features.
Ease of Use: Webnode
The Webnode website builder recently made some updates to its templates and website editor. While some users found these changes unnecessary and feel as though the new editor is generally less intuitive, Webnode still utilizes the same drag-and-drop functionality that makes website builders simple and easy to use. Adding and removing elements with Webnode is a breeze, and beginners will quickly and easily get the hang of the platform.
In addition, this platform is multilingual, offering support in 40 languages.
Wix vs. Webnode: Templates and Themes
Templates allow you to make your website beautiful, instead of simply functional. Both of these platforms offer plenty of options to choose from but one comes out on top when it comes to customization.
Templates and Themes: Wix
The Wix website builder has literally hundreds of pre-made templates to choose from, and essentially all of them are beautifully made. Templates are conveniently sorted by industry, so you’re sure to find one that suits your needs. Once you’ve chosen your template, a wide range of editing features will enable you to fully customize it to suit the needs of your small business.
One drawback that stands out is that you are unable to change your template once you’ve made your choice. If you realize you chose the wrong template during the sign-up process, you’ll have to spend additional time modifying it to suit your needs. Because of this, it’s important to choose your website builder wisely.
Templates and Themes: Webnode
Webnode has a little over 100 templates to choose from. These templates can be described as good, but not great. It’s important to note, there’s a lot of variety— some templates are quite well-designed, and others look a bit outdated. Be sure to browse the full selection— which is sorted by industry— until you find one that meets your needs.
One of the reasons it’s so important to choose the right template is because customization options are limited compared to Wix. For instance, you’ll only be able to choose from a few basic colors when editing your template, and font selections are equally limited. That being said, unlike Wix, you are able to change your template after creating your website with Webnode.
Wix vs. Webnode: Apps and Plug-Ins
To create a fully integrated website, you’ll probably want to incorporate a few apps and plug-ins. Wix clearly has an edge over Webnode in this department.
Apps and Plug-Ins: Wix
Wix offers hundreds of apps to choose from to attach to your website. These include industry-best marketing and financial tools that can be integrated with your website to promote your brand and attract business. Other apps include social media buttons, forms, and more. Many of these are free, while others require a monthly subscription. Though not as wide an app library as some website-building platforms, Wix still offers many powerful tools to help small business owners grow their brands.
Apps and Plug-Ins: Webnode
Unlike Wix, the Webnode website builder does not come with an internal app store. That being said, Webnode websites are still compatible with a few basic third-party integrations. What’s really missing here is the ability for users to integrate their website with their social media campaigns. Small businesses may be disappointed if they’re looking to fully integrate their business across multiple channels.
Wix vs. Webnode: Ecommerce
Most small business owners are searching for a website that offers at least some basic ecommerce features. Both Wix and Webnode have a few standard offerings in this department.
Wix offers three ecommerce plans including Business Basic, Business Unlimited, and Business VIP. There are a couple of handy features available with the Business Basic plan, like the ability to take in-house payments or payments through third-party gateways, unlimited products, and abandoned cart recovery for those in retail. It even includes online booking and ticket and event management for service-based professionals.
These features are expanded with the Business Unlimited and Business VIP plans to include integrations with third-party marketplaces, subscriptions, advanced shipping, and more. But, as far as ecommerce goes, the Business Basic plan has a lot to offer at an affordable price point.
The fact that an affordable platform like Webnode offers ecommerce at all is appreciated. Though users must purchase one of the upper-tier premium plans, Webnode offers the ability to create a simple online store that enables you to add products and take payments via PayPal. It’s simple but can get the job done for smaller businesses. For more advanced ecommerce options, small business owners may wish to opt for an ecommerce platform like Shopify.
Wix vs. Webnode: Pricing
As a small business owner, you are probably looking for a website building platform that balances cost with features. Both of these platforms offer affordable plans, but one of these options is more expandable than the other.
In addition to a free plan that includes ads, Wix offers three pricing strategies. The first tier is Website, the second is Business & eCommerce and the third is Enterprise, which is priced by the quote and is primarily for customers looking for a more full-service option. Though the ecommerce plans provide all of the functions of the equivalent tier for website building, the reverse does not hold true.

Wix Business & eCommerce Plans – Pricing and Features
For whatever else Webnode may be, it’s certainly affordable. There is a free option available that will require users to tolerate a Webnode subdomain. The four premium plan tiers start at $3.99 a month and include Limited, Mini, Standard, and Profi. Each of these offers expanded features over the previous tier, and the Standard and Profi plans are the only ones that offer ecommerce features.
