Q&A

Q: Why did you start your business?

A: I started Lisa’s Pie Shop 32 years ago, not because it was something I had ever dreamt of doing, but rather because I hated the factory job I did have at the time. Around the same time I had cervical cancer and with a life altering experience such as that it only furthered my desire to not continue the life I had left working somewhere I hated.

Q: What are some key factors or decisions that contributed to the success of your business?

A: God, above all is the reason we’ve been blessed with an award winning business that has remained as such for so long with continued success. Another factor is an amazing product and consistent quality.

Q: What are some challenging aspects of your business?

A: Long, long hours and hard work. When you go into business, and if you have a successful one, it consumes so much of your time and energy, much like raising a child. Furthermore, it can be emotionally trying as well to try and please everyone, for this you will never do.

Q: Do you feel you made any serious mistakes as you were starting or growing your business? Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently?

A: Yes, you always make many mistakes in starting and running a business and you never stop learning from them. I wouldn’t change anything however, as it all has led me to where I am today.

Q: What other advice or words of inspiration would you like to share?

A: Run your business, don’t let your business run you as that is easy to have happen.
