Q&A

Q: Why did you start your business?

A: I was a professional triathlete for over a decade. When I retired I realized I could use movement and my love for my community to help my city, Detroit, and start a business. I launched Be Bold Crew LLC: a mobile endurance racing and training program in 2015 then opened Detroit Body Garage (our brick and mortar location) in 2016.

Q: What are some key factors or decisions that contributed to the success of your business?

A: Staying true to my mission & values. Focusing on community. Being real and meeting my clients where they are. Making sure to have wise mentors/advisors.

Ask for help. Be BOLD and take risks. It's all worth it.

Q: What are some challenging aspects of your business?

A: Being able to manage admin while also coaching/programming. I am the sole owner/founder so I wear a lot of hats. Self care is key and making sure you get rest.

Q: Do you feel you made any serious mistakes as you were starting or growing your business? Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently?

A: No I think there is just a learning curve each month/year you are open.

Q: What other advice or words of inspiration would you like to share?

A: BE BOLD, be willing to leap and take risk. It is worth it. Love your neighbor. Get involved. Use your business for more than just revenue.
