Overview

The SBC at Brunswick Community College offers mentoring and educational seminars to help local entrepreneurs start a successful business. Mentoring is free and confidential, offering anyone the opportunity to talk about business decisions and get advice on any question, big or small. Cape Fear Community College Small Business Center

Overview

The SBC at Cape Fear Community College offers many free resources for anyone in the local community thinking about starting a business. They host frequent seminars on small business topics as well as private counseling on a variety of topics like idea feasibility or business plans. The SBC also houses print resources like periodicals and DVDs so you have the information you need to succeed.

Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Overview

The CIE directly offers many services an entrepreneur might find useful, and they also partner with local organizations to connect you with a wide network of resources. Mentoring is provided by both their staff as well as partnered organizations and covers a range of topics. Membership plans are offered at a very affordable price and offer discounts on events. Coworking space is offered as a separate plan and includes unique offers like media/marketing assistance, 3D printers, and event space.

Coworkx Space

Overview

Coworx Space is a local coworking space offering a lively work atmosphere for freelancers and entrepreneurs. Members receive all of the usual coworking amenities like high-speed internet, mailbox services, and conference rooms. SBTDC at UNC Wilmington

Overview

The greatest strength of the SBDC is their free, confidential, 1-on-1 business mentoring for anyone who seeks it. Sometimes in order to be considered for mentoring from one of their professional business advisors, you may have to attend a class/workshop or at least present your business plan. SBDC's are located all throughout the state and you should use the SBDC closest to your location if possible, but you can often transfer to a different location if they do not fit your needs.

TekMountain

Overview

TekMountain is a technology-oriented accelerator run by the successful Castle Branch company. Services include access to executive-level mentors from Castle Branch, funding channels, and networking opportunities. Their coworking space has all of the usual amenities like free coffee and fruit, desks, and internet access. Multiple membership tiers are available to cater to any work style.

SCORE Cape Fear Region

Overview

SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives) is a leading, nation-wide organization that has assisted millions of entrepreneurs over its 50+ years of operation. SCORE is a resource partner of the SBA that offers access to a network of experienced business leaders who donate time to mentor entrepreneurs and small business owners. They also host free or inexpensive workshops online and at 300 local chapters around the United States. Mentoring can be conducted either in person or remotely and is always free and confidential, no matter how often you take advantage of this service.
