Sober Living America

Founded in 2002, Sober Living America provides emotional assistance to those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. It supports addicts with a safe housing environment in which to get clean and around-the-clock care to let them know they’re not alone as they go through this dark chapter in their lives. This nonprofit also teaches addicts how to handle their cravings with therapy and guided meditation. In addition, it offers programs to help them find jobs and reach new levels of education to improve their lives moving forward.

Lindsey’s Place

Individuals with disabilities often miss out on certain opportunities due to their limitations. Lindsey’s Place runs a camp in Savannah, Ga., that aims to ensure anyone with a mental or physical disability can get the full camp experience. Staffed with professional caregivers prepared to administer any kind of aid or support a camper could need, the camp also features kindhearted volunteers who lead programs and events to keep campers engaged for their entire stay. Each year, Lindsey’s Place hosts two weekend camps as well as smaller events throughout the year so campers don’t have to wait a whole year to have some fun.

Angel Flight Soars

For some medical situations, patients can’t simply go to a hospital and instead need an expert facility specializing in their ailment. Transportation to facilities like this can be expensive, making cost an extreme barrier to the treatments or surgeries patients may need. Angel Flight Soars seeks to eliminate this obstacle by providing free flights to medical patients – all coordinated from its Georgia headquarters. This nonprofit’s network of volunteer pilots fly their passengers to medical facilities within Georgia, North and South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee at no cost. Its pilots also fly food into camps and shelters after natural disasters.
