In this MyCompanyWorks vs. BizFilings review, we’ll let you know if either is worth your time and money. We also recommend checking out our list of the top 5 LLC formation services.

KEY CONSIDERATIONS: MYCOMPANYWORKS VS. BIZFILINGS

When we started researching MyCompanyWorks and BizFilings, we focused on three main questions:

  • Is it a good deal?
  • Is there a better deal?
  • Who uses this service and how was their experience?

Answering these questions will boost your confidence so you can choose the best service to get your business up and running.

Which One is the Best Deal?

Both MyCompanyWorks and BizFilings offer decent service at average market prices. They are also both established, reputable companies with good reviews.

With that in mind, MyCompanyWorks gives you more features for less money. In addition to state formation, their basic package provides customizable operating agreements, free business tax consultation, and a free web domain along with a free year of hosting. Once you get to the middle and top tier packages, they include EIN registration as well. The biggest drawback is that they only offer a year of registered agent service for their highest formation tier.

BizFilings provides registered agent service with every package. Though more expensive than MyCompanyWorks, BizFilings still offers a selection of features for their middle and high tier formation packages. While their basic package is pretty barebones, they still offer six months of included registered agent service--a feature that MyCompanyWorks does not provide at this tier.

Who Uses Each Service and What Was Their Experience?

BizFilings

Despite being a long-running company, BizFilings does not have many reviews online. What reviews there are an equal mix of positive and negative. The standout points for satisfied users include the company’s established reputation and their customer service.

“I've registered multiple businesses with BizFilings over the years and have experienced nothing but success with them. They're quickly available to help answer any questions I have along the way. Reading the other review, it's clear the individual doesn't understand that BizFilings offers a service to streamline registration and compliance activities. Of course, this is a service you pay for and personally, I'd rather let the experts do it so I may focus on the core of my business. Keep up the great work. -EB”

“I used this service to create my LLC 10 years ago. I was happy with this service until I relized [sic] I could update the status of my LLC using the State of Virginia's online server for 1/3 the cost. I canceld [sic] my service with BizFilings and serveral [sic] months later got an email from a collection agency (********) demanding that I pay BizFilings for services I had canceled. I contacted BizFilings and they confirmed that I had canceled the service.”

MyCompanyWorks

Over a thousand online reviews exist for MyCompanyWorks, and they’re extremely positive. Customers enjoyed the efficiency of the formation service and the solid customer service response.

“Fantastic way to successfully and efficiently set up your business. MyCompanyWorks want your business to succeed. All the setup advice and checklists were incredibly helpful. MyCompanyWorks was very effective and had a fair competitive price.”

“Matt and his team are very knowledgeable, responsive, and always provide top notch customer service. I have used their service many times and will continue to do so. This company ROCKS!!”

Is There a Better Deal Out There?

Other formation services offer just as much or more for less when compared to both MyCompanyWorks and BizFilings. ZenBusiness, which offers LLC formation starting at $39 (plus state fees) and includes a year of registered agent service as well as web domain services., is one such service.

Takeaway

MyCompanyWorks is a good formation service with competitive prices. Their customers are also overwhelmingly satisfied with the company. However, other services with lower formation prices include registered agent service with their basic packages.

BizFilings offers middle-of-the-road prices as well as a solid assortment of additional services as well as a good customer support system. However, as previously mentioned, many of their competitors offer more for less.

Value

BizFilings provides formation services for an average cost. Their prices are not the most expensive on the market, but there are more low-cost options out there. Many formation services offer a year of registered agent service as part of their packages, but BizFilings only offers six months. While they offer additional services such as EIN registration and operating agreement templates, they are not the best choice for businesses looking for a low-cost option.

MyCompanyWorks is not the cheapest, but their prices are competitive. Other formation services offer basic packages with registered agent services at a lower price than MyCompanyWorks, but their inclusion of customized operating agreements, tax consultations, and web domains are nice additives to have at their lowest tier.

Customer Service

Many of BizFilings’ online reviews are happy with their customer service. They offer an online chat feature as well as having phone service. BizFilings also provides a warranty in the event of filing errors, and satisfied customers praise the company’s advice and its ability to quickly fix mistakes.

MyCompanyWorks’ customers appear to be overwhelmingly satisfied with their service. Customer service representatives can be reached by email or by phone, and they typically only take 20 minutes to respond during their business hours. MyCompanyWorks also provides a 100% satisfaction guarantee if their services are less than satisfactory.

Ease of Use

BizFilings’ interface is functional, if not somewhat puzzling. They show each included and optional feature on their package comparison page, however their service descriptions can get vague. Online reviews have reported needing extra customer support to get further clarification. Other than that, their website as a whole is clear.

MyCompanyWorks’ step-by-step wizard makes formation almost foolproof. This wizard goes through every step of your state’s filing process so that you don’t miss any compliance issues. The rest of their website is also easy to follow.

Included Features

While their basic package is pretty average, BizFilings’ higher-tier packages offer solid features. They offer operating agreements starting at its middle tier, and its highest tier includes EIN registration as well as state-certified documents. What sets them back is that they only offer six months of included registered agent service.

On the other hand, MyCompanyWorks includes great features at all tiers. They provide customizable operating agreements, free tax consultations, and a free web domain starting at their lowest tier. They also provide EIN registration starting at their middle tier. However, they do not offer their registered agent service as an included feature until their highest package, while BizFilings offers the same included service throughout all packages.
