MYCORPORATION VS. BIZFILINGS

Which Is Better for LLC Formation?

Looking for the best service to start your LLC? We used MyCorporation and BizFilings to form LLCs, then compared their features.

In this MyCorporation vs. BizFilings review, we’ll let you know if either is worth your time and money. We also recommend checking out our list of the top 5 LLC formation services.

Recommended Step Before Using MyCorporation or BizFilings

It’s important to name your business before going through the LLC formation process with a service provider. TRUiC’s Free LLC Name Generator will help you to do the following:

  • Discover the perfect business name for your company.
  • Conduct a business name search to make sure your desired name is available in your state and not already taken.
  • Help verify the availability and secure a domain name for your LLC.

KEY CONSIDERATIONS: MYCORPORATION VS. BIZFILINGS

When we started researching MyCorporation and BizFilings, we focused on three main questions:

  • Is it a good deal?
  • Is there a better deal?
  • Who uses this service and how was their experience?

Answering these questions will boost your confidence so you can choose the best service to get your business up and running.

Which One is the Best Deal?

BizFilings and MyCorporation offer services at nearly the same price per package. That being said, the best deal out of the deal depends on what your business wants most in their formation process.

BizFilings offers essential additional features as part of their packages. While their basic package is barebones like MyCorporation’s, they still offer six months of registered agent service. On their higher two tiers, they include important services such as EIN registration and operating agreement templates. However, their formation process can get confusing and their customer reviews are mixed.

MyCorporation has exceptional customer service and is easier to use. Their online customer reviews are overwhelmingly positive and their formation process is straightforward. Plus, higher tiers can benefit from additional annual report filing services and a year of registered agent services. However, while they offer nice-to-have features such as custom logo design and free domain names, they do not offer essential features like EIN registration and operating agreements as part of their packages.

Who Uses Each Service and What Was Their Experience?

BizFilings
BizFilings receives mixed reviews from its online customer base. While not many online reviews exist, those that had a positive experience enjoyed the customer service they experienced.

“I’ve registered multiple businesses with BizFilings over the years and have experienced nothing but success with them. They’re quickly available to help answer any questions I have along the way. Reading the other review, it’s clear the individual doesn’t understand that BizFilings offers a service to streamline registration and compliance activities. Of course, this is a service you pay for and personally, I’d rather let the experts do it so I may focus on the core of my business. Keep up the great work. -EB”

“I used this service to create my LLC 10 years ago. I was happy with this service until I relized [sic] I could update the status of my LLC using the State of Virginia’s online server for 1/3 the cost. I canceld [sic] my service with BizFilings and serveral [sic] months later got an email from a collection agency (********) demanding that I pay BizFilings for services I had canceled. I contacted BizFilings and they confirmed that I had canceled the service.”

MyCorporation
The online customer response for MyCorporation is majority positive. Users enjoyed the quick service and good customer service, but also mentioned that things can get pricey.

“I recently called MyCorporation [sic] for my LLC set up. I worked with Scott and he was super helpful and patient with all my questions. The turn around [sic] time of getting all my required documents was quick and simple. Definitely recommend them for any business needs!”

“They did what they said and when they said they would do it. Professional services. The only thing I didn’t like is the pricing adds up so quickly to include additional services. Overall good service. Thanks”

Is There a Better Deal Out There?

There are formation services other than MyCorporation and BizFilings that offer just as much or more for less. We like ZenBusiness, which offers LLC formation starting at $39 (plus state fees) and includes a year of registered agent service, operating agreements, and web domain services.

Takeaway

BizFilings offers a decent selection of desirable features at an average cost. They are not the cheapest option on the market, but their prices are in line with MyCorporation’s and their customers are often satisfied with their services.

MyCorporation gives customers a quick formation process with nice optional features. Adding important additional features can get pricey, but that also comes with a good customer support system.

Value

BizFilings’ prices are average compared to their competitors. They are not the cheapest option on the market, however, they are also not the costliest. Many formation services offer a year of registered agent service as part of their packages, but BizFilings only offers six months. However, unlike MyCorporation, they do offer useful features such as operating agreement templates and EIN registration on their higher tiers of service.

MyCorporation is not the cheapest option in total. While their formation prices are similar to BizFilings, they do not add many additional features to their packages such as operating agreement creation or EIN registration. They also do not include registered agent service on the lower two package tiers. However, once you get to the top two package tiers, they offer a year of registered agent service–double that of BizFilings.

Customer Service

Many of BizFilings’ online reviews are happy with their customer service. They offer an online chat feature as well as having phone service. BizFilings also provides a warranty in the event of filing errors, and satisfied customers praise the company’s advice and its ability to quickly fix mistakes.

MyCorporation makes its representatives accessible. They provide support via phone, email, and live chat functions. Many of their online customer reviews mention the helpfulness of the support team as well as their friendliness.

Ease of Use

BizFilings has a functional website layout, but it can get confusing. Their package comparison page lists every available additional service, but some of the feature descriptions are vague. Some customer reviews recommend contacting customer support for further explanations.

MyCorporation makes its features’ pricing clear. They show every available additional service on the package comparison page, and they show them once again at checkout. At checkout, they label certain additional services as “recommended” or “nice to have.” The rest of the website and formation process is streamlined and easy to understand.

Included Features

When compared to BizFilings, MyCorporation offers very few included features. None of the packages include EIN registration or operating agreement assistance, and the top bottom tiers do not include registered agent service. However, the top two tiers do include a year of registered agent service, and every package except the basic package includes annual report filing.

BizFilings’ basic package–like MyCorporation’s– is pretty average. However, BizFilings’ higher-priced tiers provide a decent set of features. They offer operating agreements starting at its middle tier, and its highest tier includes EIN registration as well as state-certified documents. While they do offer six months registered agent service on all of their packages, it’s still less than the full year that its competitors often provide.
